Joined the Oklahoma staff on February 25, 2013. Quickly assimilated a number of young players into a revamped OU defensive front, including Charles Tapper, who earned 2013 All-Big 12 First Team honors from the conference coaches.
 
Thanks to a renewed pass rush in 2013, the Sooners led the Big 12 and ranked 10th in the nation in third-down conversions (60) and ranked second in the Big 12 in third-down percentage (33.7).
 
Montgomery’s unit helped the Sooners lead the Big 12 in total defense (350.2 ypg) and pass defense (212.5 ypg) in 2013. OU also registered a +9 (25 takes/16 gives) turnover margin in 2013 and ranked second in the Big 12 in rushing defense (137.6 ypg).
 
Part of a Michigan defensive staff that helped the Wolverines post a 19-7 record and limit opponents to 18.6 points per game in 2011-12.
 
The Wolverines ranked 13th among FBS squads in total defense (320.0 ypg) en route to a berth in the Capital One Bowl with Montgomery coaching the defensive line in 2012.
 
With Montgomery coaching the defensive front in 2011, Michigan permitted 17.4 points per game to rank sixth in the FBS.
 
Michigan allowed 131.7 rushing yards per game in 2011, the third-best mark in the Big Ten as the club finished the season with an 11-2 record and a victory in the Sugar Bowl.
 
Has been a part of seven squads that have earned postseason berths as either a player or a coach.
 
His Northern Iowa team advanced to the FCS playoffs in each of his seasons coaching with the Panthers.
 
At Northern Iowa, Montgomery was part of the Panthers’ 2008 Missouri Valley Football Conference championship team that went 12-3 overall and attained an FCS national ranking as high as No. 4.
 
The 2008 UNI defense ranked 10th nationally among all FCS teams in scoring defense, allowing 17.7 points per game.

Northern Iowa concluded the 2007 campaign ranked in the top five in both national polls and ranked among the top 10 in rushing defense (No. 6), scoring defense (No. 7) and total defense (No. 10).

In 2007, Northern Iowa was 12-1, entered the playoffs as the No. 1 seed and advanced to the FCS quarterfinals.

Four-year starter as a defensive tackle at Iowa.
Played in the Hula Bowl All-Star Game following his senior season.
Went to training camp with the New Orleans Saints in 2002.
Played in the Arena Football League with the Chicago Rush, Colorado Crush and Las Vegas Gladiators from 2003-05.
