TOWSON, Md. – University of Oklahoma volleyball senior Sallie McLaurin earned a spot on the Capital One Academic All-American First Team as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday morning. McLaurin is the third student-athlete in program history to achieve this honor.
A health and exercise science major from Midwest City, Okla., McLaurin holds a 3.73 grade-point average and was previously named an Academic All-District selection as well as Academic All-Big 12 First Team in November.
At middle blocker, McLaurin led the Sooner attack with 3.78 kills per set. She is 11th in the nation in hitting percentage (.423) and 23rd in blocks per set (1.37). McLaurin finished her career ranked seventh in kills (1,351) and second in blocks (633) at Oklahoma.
She was a five-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week in her senior campaign and was named the AVCA National Player of the Week on September 17. McLaurin picked up her third selection to the All-Big 12 First Team a week ago.
Suzy Boulavsky previously was named an Academic All-American by CoSIDA in 2010 and 2011.
