IRVING, Texas – University of Oklahoma volleyball senior Sallie McLaurin has been named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending September 8. It is the second straight week she was won the award and eighth weekly award in her career from the conference.
McLaurin, a middle blocker from Midwest City, Okla., totaled 64 kills, averaging 3.76 per set and hit .454 in a 3-1 week for the Sooners. In a five-set win over No. 25 BYU, she tallied the 1,000th kill of her career on her third of the match. McLaurin posted season-highs in the match against the Cougars in kills (21), hitting percentage (.677) and blocks (eight).
For the weekend, McLaurin posted double-digits in kills in all four matches and hit .320 or better in each match. She also contributed 18 blocks and 13 digs.
Oklahoma is in action this weekend at the Dr. Mary Jo Wynn Invitational, hosted by Missouri State, and returns home for the NIKE Invitational, September 19-21.
