STILLWATER, Okla.— A seven-match win streak came to an end Sunday as the No. 39 Oklahoma State Cowgirls (6-5) upset the No. 14 Oklahoma women’s tennis team 4-2.

The non-conference Bedlam match was played with the College MatchDay rules in place. Singles was played first with doubles being used in need of a tiebreaker.

"I'm really proud of how we competed today," OU head coach David Mullins said. "We gave ourselves a chance at most spots in some very hostile conditions."

Senior Mia Lancaster earned the first point for the Sooners (9-2) besting Oklahoma State’s Katarina Adamovic 6-2, 6-4. With the win, Lancaster improved to 7-3 on the season with a 5-1 record at the No. 4 spot.

Senior Hermon Brhane recorded the second point for the Sooners with an impressive 2-6, 6-3, 6-0 win over Megan McCray at the No. 2 position.

Senior Whitney Ritchie’s ten-match win streak was ended as she dropped a heated contest with Viktoriya Lushkova. The senior is now 10-1 on the season.

Freshman Morgan Chumney battled hard against the reigning ITA Central Region Singles Champion, Kanyapat Narattana but ultimately fell in the third set.

Emma Devine and Abbi Melrose also dropped matches at the No. 6 and No. 5 positions respectively.

"It was a shame we could not force the doubles point but OSU played better at the end of the match and they deserve the win," Mullins said. "We have to rebound quickly for an even tougher test on Wednesday."

The Sooners will travel to Tulsa on March 12 to take on the Golden Hurricane.
