NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women’s tennis team hits the road for two conference matches this weekend. OU faces Iowa State Friday, April 5, at 3 p.m. CT, in Ames, Iowa, and West Virginia Sunday, April 7, at 10 a.m. CT, in Morgantown, W. Va.
“We have had two great weeks of practice, with a great win in between.” OU head coach David Mullins said.
Oklahoma (10-6, 2-2) upset then-ranked No. 25 Oklahoma State, 4-3, in Norman, March 29, to improve five spots to No. 34 in the latest ITA Rankings.
“We have worked a lot on our doubles this week and that will be a big focus for us in these two matches.” Mullins added.
Oklahoma won its first match after losing the doubles point this season against OSU. The Sooners have lost four out of the last five doubles point.
“This will be another chance for us to prove that we have improved our ability to play away from home in some unfamiliar settings.” Mullins said.
OU is 3-5 away from home this season and will face West Virginia for the first time in team history.
Iowa State (7-10, 0-4) defeated Northern Iowa, 6-1, in Ames, March 29. The Cyclones are 4-4 at home this season.
West Virginia (4-11, 0-4) is on a four-game losing streak including a shutout loss to No. 22 Texas on March 24. The Mountaineers will No. 31 Oklahoma Friday, April 5.
