NORMAN, Okla. – The No. 26 University of Oklahoma women’s tennis team fell to No. 55 Saint Mary’s College of California, 5-2, Friday, March 22, at the Timothy Korth Tennis Complex in Moraga, Calif.

“I’m happy with how we fought and competed today.” OU head coach David Mullins.

Oklahoma (8-6, 2-2) played from behind after losing the doubles point to the Gaels to Saint Mary’s a 1-0 lead heading into singles.

“We had another match point for the doubles point that we did not convert on again,” Mullins continued. “We need to correct this pattern and take advantage of our opportunities.”

The Sooners notched a point on court two and six in singles play. Whitney Ritchie defeated Catherine Isip, 6-0, 7-6, and Emma Devine topped Audrey Leitz, 6-2, 6-3.

“Ultimately we have to play better,” Mullins added.

Oklahoma wraps up a four-game road stretch Sunday, March 24, in Santa Barbara, Calif. against UC Santa Barbara at 12:30 p.m. CT.
