NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma’s men’s tennis team travels to Texas to compete in the International Tennis Association’s Indoor Championships.
Oklahoma, the No. 7 seed begins play against Illinois in the first round Friday.
“We have a tough challenge with Illinois on Friday,” OU head coach John Roddick said. “Our preparation has been good and I know our guys are excited to get going.”
This year marks the 40th for the annual championship, hosted in 2014 by Texas A&M in Houston at The Downtown Club at the Met and the Galleria Tennis Athletic Club.
Oklahoma earned the bid to the national tournament after knocking out Northwestern and Indiana in back-to-back days during the ITA Kick Off Weekend.
The field of 16 has been set with the University of Virginia earning the tournament’s top seed. Eight of the No. 1 seeds from ITA’s Kick Off Weekend were able to advance to this year’s competition.
