NORMAN, Okla. -- The No. 11 University of Oklahoma men's tennis team opened Big 12 play with a 5-2 win over their rival, No. 16 Texas, at the Headington Family Tennis Pavilion Friday night.

"We played a great match tonight against Texas," OU head coach John Roddick said. "Our doubles was really strong and it was a great momentum builder. Singles was really solid and we did a better job at Court 6."

UT tightened the match after a win on Court 5, when Nick Naumann defeated Peerakit Siributwong 6-4, 6-2.

Not long after that, Webb claimed the match for the Sooners with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Daniel Whitehead in the No. 3 position. This was the Sooners' third regular-season win in a row over Texas and extended Roddick's record over the Longhorns to 4-1.

The Sooners' added onto their win margin with a win on Court 4 after Alvarez Llamas upset No. 108 Sudanwa Sitaram 6-1, 5-7, 6-2.
