SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- Twenty-six innings and counting.

That's where the Oklahoma softball shutout streak sits at the Campbell/Cartier Classic following a 2-0 win over No. 16/18 Washington on Saturday afternoon at the SDSU Softball Complex.

Through four games at the event, No. 1/2 OU (9-0) is outscoring its opponents 24-0. It's the first time since March 9-13, 2011 that the Sooners have thrown four consecutive shutouts.

Go back to the final four innings of Northwestern contest on Feb. 10 and the Sooners' run sits at 30 innings without allowing a run.

Senior Michelle Gascoigne was dominant in the circle for the Sooners on Saturday, striking out 10 batters and facing just one batter over the minimum through six innings. She gave up just three hits and didn't walk a batter.

Gascoigne was perfect in the first, second, third, fifth and sixth innings. A lone single with two outs in the fourth was all the Huskies (5-4) could muster before the seventh.

Oklahoma got its two runs in the third inning on a home run by sophomore Lauren Chamberlain.

Senior Brianna Turang reached on an infield single to third base to start the frame. Sophomore Jessica Vest dropped down a sacrifice bunt to move Turang into scoring position, but it wouldn't matter as Chamberlain turned on the first pitch she saw and drilled her sixth home run of the season to left field.

Washington threatened to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh.

After a strikeout, Kaitlin Inglesby singled and was pinch run for by Marki Creger-Zier. A single by Hooch Fagaly advanced Creger-Zier to third base. Dani Braun pinch ran Fagaly and moved into scoring position with a stolen base.

Facing the go-ahead run with one out, Gascoigne struck out Kylee Lahners and then got Kimberlee Souza to fly out to Erica Sampson in right field to end the ball game.

Standing at 9-0 on the year, the Sooners are off to their best start since they started the 2007 season on a 23-game winning streak.

Oklahoma closes out play at the Campbell/Cartier Classic on Sunday with a contest against Notre Dame. First pitch is set for 11 a.m. CT.
