STANFORD, Calif. -- Brandon Doughty and Jacob Burcham finished third in their respective events to lead the way for the University of Oklahoma track and field team at the Stanford Invitational on Cobb Track on Friday.
Burcham competed in the 1,500-meter run along with Alex Deir. Burcham's third-place finish came in 3:48.94 in Section 3 of the race while Deir (3:44.11) finished fifth in Section 1 of the race.
Doughty's third-place finish came in the 5,000-meter run where he crossed the finish line in 13:53.48.
Elena Arriaza (16:49.14) and Molly Williams (17:11.20) competed in the 5,000-meter run on the women's side, finishing 19th and 23rd, respectively.
Earlier in the day, the Sooners competed in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase. Redshirt freshman Dylan Blakenbaker finished in 9:08.37 for 12th place, while Patrick Gomez crossed the finish line in 9:16.72 for 15th.
Abbabiya Simbassa and Eric Graf closed out competition for Oklahoma in the 10,000-meter run late in the evening. Simbassa (28:42.56) came out in ninth place in Section 1. In Section 2 of the race, Graf placed 27th with a time of 29:59.09.
Competition for OU moves to the Crimson Tide Invitational Saturday. Field events begin at 9:30 a.m. CT at with the hammer throw at the Crimson Tide Invitational in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Live results are available here throughout the day.
