Sooners Close Out Meet with Four Wins

Fayetteville, Ark.—Junior Rylee Rackley set a program record in the weight throw on Saturday as the Sooners finished day two of the Razorback Invitational. Her 61-7.00 throw earned a third-place finish.

The day included seven Sooners establishing career bests.

The OU women dominated the weight throw once again as Julia Reedy (60-8.00), Sarah Tolson (59-11.75) and Brooke Garner (58-03.75) finished fourth, sixth and seventh respectively. Every effort was a career best.

The day also included OU wins in the men’s collegiate 3000- and 800-meter and a sweep of the men's collegiate and invitational mile events.

Brandon Doughty won the 3000-meter run in 8:12.82 while Malcolm Wankel took the 800 with a 1:51.75.

Junior Alex Deir, competing in his first meet on the track for the Sooners, won the invitational mile run in 4:06.93. Dylan Blankenbaker won the collegiate mile with a 4:10.64.

Freshman Jacob Burcham finished third in the men’s collegiate mile with a time of time of 4:10.64. Sophomore Allen Eke recorded a career-best time of 1:51.35 en route to a seventh-place finish in the invitational 800-meter run.

Georgina Tamez-Reyna improved her career time in the 60-meter hurdles for the third week in a row. The senior finished fifth with a time of 8.65. 

OU got team points from Matthias Wicks, who finished fourth in the men's hurdles; Waymon Storey Jr., seventh in the 60; and Charles Nguyen, fifth in the weight throw.

With 17 events scored, the men finished fifth, while the women came in sixth in the team standings.

Up next for the Sooners is the Armory Collegiate Invitational in New York, N.Y. The two-day meet starts on Friday.
