The residents of the Sooner Housing Center eat their meals in the Wagner Dining Hall. The Wagner Dining Hall (WDH) is a small, comfortable eating establishment that provides tons of nutritious food.
WDH is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, Monday-Friday. Breakfast has eggs to order, pre-prepared egg dishes, sausage, bacon, pancakes, waffles, cold cereal and fresh fruit. Lunch and dinner have at least three main entrees. Usually we have a chicken dish, beef dish and fish dish for each meal.
Lunch and dinner will also usually include pasta, a fresh fruit bar, salad bar, hot vegetables, sandwich bar, hot rolls or bread, cold dessert and hot dessert. We also have lots of juices, Gatorade, Powerade, milk, Coke products and cappacino at every meal.
There are two meal plan options for freshmen: 10 meals per week and 15 meals per week.
How do I decide which meal plan to sign up for? If you are not a breakfast eater, especially if Mom is not waking you up and forcing you to eat breakfast, then you are probably going to miss our breakfast. If you miss breakfast every day, then you are going to want two meals per day or the 10 Meals Per Week Plan.
If you think you are going to eat breakfast, lunch & dinner every weekday, then we suggest you go for a three meals per day or the 15 Meals Per Week Plan.
What about the weekends? The WDH is closed on weekends. The reason is that most students miss weekend meals. So it would be a waste of money for you and a lot of hard work on our part.
Most students sleep in on weekends, which means they would miss breakfast and lunch. Then after they eat late, they are not hungry for dinner in time and miss that meal also. That also takes into account people who go home or out of town for the weekend. Most students eat at off-campus locations during the weekend and that is the way they prefer it.
Why are there no meal point meal options? The Wagner Dining Hall is run by the Sooner Housing Center and is independent of the other dining services on campus. This means that WDH does not have the meal points option offered by University Housing & Food Services. All food plans involve eating in the WDH.
