NORMAN, Okla. -- The fourth-ranked Oklahoma men's gymnastics team remained undefeated against No. 9 Nebraska and No. 13 Illinois Chicago on Sunday, Feb. 13. The Sooners (6-0 overall, 3-0 MPSF) posted its highest team total of the season (360.600) en route to their victory over the Huskers (349.700) and Flames (332.500).

OU swept each of the team events on floor (60.600), pommel horse (57.900), rings (59.400), vault (64.500), parallel bars (59.500) and high bar (58.700). The Sooners last swept each of the event titles against Ohio State on Jan 22.

“We had a pretty good last half of the week in practice. I had a feeling we could come in and put things together well,” said OU Head Coach Mark Williams. “I am looking forward to next weekend when we go up against No. 1 Stanford.”

The Sooners recorded season highs on pommel horse, high bar, parallel bars and vault while sophomore Steven Legendre won his first all-around of the season with a score of 92.200.

“I am starting to see improvements that you usually see at the end of the season,” added Williams. “We are not completely there, but, all-in-all, it was a good day.”

Legendre, a six-time NCAA National Champion, also claimed three individual event titles on floor (16.200), high bar (15.000) and with a  program-record 16.700 on vault. The record was previously held by sophomore Jacob Dalton (16.550), set earlier this year on Jan. 29.

“I was finally able to put together six pretty good events,” said Legendre. “There are still a couple of things that I want to improve on before the year gets any further, but today was a good day.”

In addition, Oklahoma swept each of the individual events for the first time this year with four different gymnasts claiming titles. Legendre led the Sooners with three event victories (floor, vault and high bar), senior Ian Jackson tied for first on rings (15.200), sophomore Alex Naddour claimed the pommel horse (15.400) and sophomore Jacob Dalton won on parallel bars (15.100).

Oklahoma returns to action against MPSF Conference foe No. 1 Stanford on Feb. 19 in Palo Alto, Calif. The meet will get underway at 9 p.m. (CT) at the Maples Pavilion.

The two teams have combined for the last six MPSF titles with Oklahoma winning five (2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005) and Stanford winning the title in 2009.
