STANFORD, Calif. -- The University of Oklahoma men's gymnastics team finished second at the four-team Stanford Open with a score of 433.450 Saturday at Burnham Pavilion in Stanford, Calif.

No. 4 OU finished 4.1 points behind No. 3 Stanford, who scored a 437.550. No. 6 California finished third with 425.900, followed by No. 5 Nebraska with 421.900.

Oklahoma won team event titles in the floor exercise and parallel bars with scores of 75.850 and 71.700, respectively. Stanford won every other team event title.

The individual event titles all went to gymnasts from Cal or Stanford. The Golden Bears claimed five individual event titles, while the Cardinal won one, the parallel bars.

"Overall I was pleased that we made improvements from last week," head coach Mark Williams said. "We didn't get over the hump and catch Stanford in a meet where there's a lot going on, but I'm pleased with how we handled it. We meet Stanford again in the conference championship, so we're going to have to get better to compete for a championship later in the year."

Oklahoma posted a 71.250 on rings, its first event. For the second straight meet, Michael Squires led the Sooners with a 14.800. Troy Nitzky scored a 14.450, while Presten Ellsworth recorded a 14.100.

On vault, OU scored a 72.050, led by Dylan Akers' 14.500. Raymond White and Danny Berardini finished closely behind with a 14.450 and 14.400, respectively. Josh Yee and Ellsworth posted a 14.350.

The third event for the Sooners was the parallel bars, where they recorded a 71.700. A week after making his collegiate debut, Yee led OU and posted a new career high with a score of 14.600. Berardini scored a 14.350, while Ellsworth, Sergey Resnick and Alec Robin scored a 14.250. Robin's score was a new career high.

On high bar, Oklahoma posted a 71.750, and every Sooner gymnast recorded a season or career-high score. Clement's career-high score of 14.950 led OU, followed by Robin's 14.550, also a career high. Ethan Jose, Berardini and Stanton Rehkemper had season-high scores.

The Sooners scored their highest total of the night on floor with a 75.850. Ellsworth led OU with a career-high score of 15.500. Kanji Oyama and Robin also posted a career high with a 15.250 and 15.200, respectively.

The final event for OU was the pommel horse, where the Sooners scored a 70.850. Oklahoma was led by a season-high score of 14.600 from Michael Reid. Resnick recorded a 14.400, while Rubin posted a 14.100.

The Sooners return closer to home on Friday when they compete at the Metroplex Challenge in Dallas. The meet will commence at 7 p.m.
