On the final night of the 2010 National Championships, Oklahoma added two individual championships in the first half of the competition of the Individual Championships. Junior Steven Legendre claimed the title on floor and freshman Alex Naddour claimed the title on pommel at the Holleder Center on the campus of the United State Military Academy.

Oklahoma ranks fourth all time in individual NCAA championships with a total of 32 titles.

“I am pretty excited about the whole night,” said OU head coach Mark Williams. “Having Steve win his third title on floor is really impressive. Overall, it was a really good night for the program.”

Legendre’s third National Title on floor makes it the fifth straight year the Sooners have claimed the title. Jonathan Horton won the title on the same event in 2006 and 2007. The Port Jefferson, N.Y., native also tied Jonathan Horton’s program record of six career NCAA National Titles.

“I think Oklahoma has really established itself as the dominate program on floor in recent history,” said Legendre. “It is a great honor to be a part of that and I’m proud of my teammates this weekend.”

The Sooners claimed 11 All-America honors as a team. Gymnasts who finished in the top eight on their event were awarded All-America status.

A six-time individual champion, Legendre defended his title on floor and posted the nation’s top score (16.100) for the third straight year. Legendre also was named an All-American on vault with a score of 15.675.

Collecting an NCAA Individual Title in his freshman year was Alex Naddour with a score of 15.425 on pommel horse. The last time Oklahoma claimed the individual title on pommel horse was Josh Landis in 2003.

“It’s amazing. I am so happy,” said Alex Naddour. “Going in I didn’t know if I could handle the pressure but obviously with the morning training, everything worked.”

As a freshman Jacob Dalton claimed three All-American honors in the all-around, floor and vault. The Reno, Nev., native scored a 16.100 on vault and a 15.675 on floor. Senior Corey English earned two All-America honors, scoring a 14.375 on the pommel horse and a 14.900 on parallel bars.

Freshman Jeremy Adams also claimed All-America honors by posting a score of 13.700. It is the first time that the Sooners have claimed three All-American honors on pommel horse since 2001.

“Alex winning a national title straight out of the box is amazing,” added Williams. “Having three All-Americans on pommel horse is quite an accomplishment.”

Junior Ian Jackson scored a 14.750 on vault to finish in ninth place on vault.

ESPN2 (Cox Channel 28, HD Channel 721 in OKC) will air the Team and All-Around Finals on April 23 at 1:30 p.m.
