Sooners Release 2014 Schedule
September 18, 2013

NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma vice president for intercollegiate athletic programs and athletic director Joe Castiglione and head men's gymnastics coach Mark Williams announced Oklahoma's 2014 schedule Wednesday.

"We're excited about the 2014 schedule," said Williams, who is entering his 15th year as head coach of the Sooners. "I think it's what we need in a competitive season that will put us in the mix at the end of the season and hopefully round things out at the NCAA Championships."

The national runner-up and defending MPSF champion Sooners will compete against a challenging schedule before vying for the NCAA title in April.

Air Force, Iowa, Stanford and Nebraska will travel to compete in Norman. The Sooners will also host the MPSF Championships for the first time since 2010. All home meets will be held at the McCasland Fieldhouse.

OU will in turn take trips to the Rocky Mountain Open in Colorado Springs, Colo.; Minnesota; the Metroplex in Fort Worth, Texas; and Ohio State. The Sooners will finished out the year at the NCAA Championships to be held on the campus of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

"The MPSF Championships at home will be a very exciting meet," Williams said. "I like having the event in the Fieldhouse and having our fans here to support us is important. Every year it's been tough so we look forward to the challenge."

OU will begin the season at the Rocky Mountain Open for the 10th straight year on Jan. 11 before returning the favor and hosting MPSF opponent Air Force on Jan. 18 at 5 p.m.

The Sooners will next travel to compete at Minnesota on Jan. 25 after which they will welcome Iowa to Norman on Feb. 1 and Stanford, third-place finishers in 2013, on Feb. 8.

OU looks to defend their title at the Metroplex Challenge on Feb. 15 in Fort Worth, Texas, again competing against Stanford and the club squads from Texas and Texas A&M.

After the Winter Cup in Las Vegas, Feb. 20 and 22, OU will take on Nebraska in the Sooners' lone Sunday meet on March 9 at 4 p.m. They will then close out the regular season with a trip to Columbus to face Ohio State on March 15.

Oklahoma will look to claim its 13th MPSF championship in 16 seasons on March 29 at 5 p.m., competing against Stanford, California and Air Force.

The NCAA Championships will be held April 10-12 in Ann Arbor, home of the defending national champion Michigan Wolverines.

OU will also put on its annual Crimson and Cream intrasquad meet on Sunday, Nov. 24, beginning at 2 p.m at the Sooners' practice facility, Viersen Center.
