NORMAN, Okla. -- Six University of Oklahoma men's gymnasts were named to the 2013 Academic All-Big 12 At-Large Team, the conference announced today.

The Sooners' six honorees, including five first-team selections, are part of a squad of 31 student-athletes from league institutions that participate in sports outside of Big 12 competition. OU is the only Big 12 school to have a men's gymnastics team.

Junior Presten Ellsworth and sophomores Dylan Akers, Ethan Jose, Stanton Rehkemper and Alec Robin were named to the first team, while sophomore Danny Berardini earned second team honors.

Student-athletes named to the first team must have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA. To qualify, student-athletes must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfer students are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
