Soccer Adds Oregon State Transfer

NORMAN, Okla. -- Head coach Matt Potter and the Oklahoma soccer team announced the addition of junior transfer Laura Rayfield to the roster for the 2014 fall season. Rayfield joins OU after two seasons as a defender at Oregon State.

A native of Auburn, Wash., Rayfield started 25 matches and appeared in 34 total contests for the Beavers. As a sophomore in fall 2013, she started 17 matches at OSU, logging 1,388 minutes and scoring a goal against Washington State on Sept. 27. Rayfield took eight total shots and was named Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention. 

Rayfield also saw action in her freshman season at OSU, starting eight matches and appearing in 15 in total. She posted four shots (one on goal) and appeared in over 600 total minutes of game action as a true freshman.

Rayfield was a four-year standout at Kentlake H.S. while playing club soccer for Crossfire Premier. She was a four-time first team all-league selection, a two-time all-league MVP, a two-time all-state pick and a two-time Seattle Times All-Star selection during her high school career. During her career, she was named Kentlake Offensive Player of the Year twice, Defensive Player of the Year once and team MVP and captain in her senior season.

During her playing days at Crossfire Premier, Rayfield helped her club team to six state titles, a regional title, an ECNL national final and a Super-Y League final. Rayfield also led her squad to a Manchester United U.S. final and was the recipient of the Manchester United U.S. Finals Golden Boot award.

The daughter of Dave and Susan Rayfield, Laura has two siblings, Alyssa and Ryan. She plans to major in chemical engineering at Oklahoma.
