NORMAN, Okla. -- The Oklahoma soccer team opened its spring practice slate on Monday, February 3 in Norman. The Sooners will split training time between John Crain Field at the OU Soccer Complex and Everest Training Center.
The start of the 20 hour spring practice schedule kicks off a busy week for the OU soccer program. The team is set to welcome a talented new class on its Feb. 5 signing day and will also announce its spring competition schedule on Feb. 6. Oklahoma's newest class of Sooners will be unveiled next Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Entering his third season at the helm of the OU soccer program in 2014 is head coach Matt Potter. Potter will welcome back a substantially more seasoned squad this spring, including 18 student-athletes who saw playing time in 2013. His Oklahoma teams have already achieved on the field and in the classroom: his 2013 Sooner squad was one of 14 at OU to achieve a 3.0 or higher grade-point average last semester.
Oklahoma ended its 2013 campaign at 4-13-1 overall while facing one of the nation's most challenging slates. A young Sooner squad faced seven top 25 opponents throughout the season, gaining valuable experience on the road and at home in Norman.
