All-American: Joe Bowden
Joe Bowden, LB - 1991
A scorpion-like defender, Joe Bowden is considered one of the best linebackers in school history. Joe Bowden came out of the box early in his Sooner career when he was selected Defensive Newcomer of the Year in the Big Eight as a sophomore in 1989.
He had 75 unassisted tackles during his All-American senior season in 1991. He also had two interceptions, both returned for touchdowns and did more than his fair share to turn a loss into a win as Oklahoma faced eventual Big Eight Champion Nebraska that year. Bowden finished with 14 tackles, including eight unassisted, and one for a three-yard loss.
He was taken in the 1992 NFL Draft by the Houston Oilers in the fifth round.
