NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma junior center Ty Darlington was named to the 2014 Watch List by the Rimington Trophy committee Monday. The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the nation's most outstanding center among FBS teams.

The Apoka, Fla., native has played in 12 games (one start) on the offensive line for the Sooners. Darlington is the top candidate to replace All-America Gabe Ikard at the center position for Oklahoma in 2014. Darlington started one game for an injured Ikard against Baylor in 2013.

A consensus four-star recruit, Darlington prepped for his father, Rick, at Apoka High School. His younger brother, Zack, is a freshman quarterback at Nebraska.

Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2.5 million for the cystic fibrosis community. The award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $100 million for CF Research.

Dave Rimington, the award's namesake, was a consensus first-team All-America center at the University of Nebraska in 1981 and 1982, during which time he became the John Outland Trophy's only double winner as the nation's finest college interior lineman.
