NORMAN, Okla. – University of Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops announced the signings of two junior college transfers to National Letters of Intent on Wednesday.
“We are pleased to announce that Isaac and Devante have signed with the University of Oklahoma,” Stoops said. “They are talented individuals who we believe can make contributions to our program. We look forward to their arrival on campus.”
Tight end Isaac Ijalana (6’5, 255 lbs.) joins the Sooners from Pierce College in Woodland Hills, Calif. A three-star recruit by most major recruiting services, Ijalana hails from Mount Holly, N.J., and attended Rancocas Valley High School. He played in five games this year and caught eight passes for 80 yards as Pierce finished with a 9-2 record. Ijlana’s older brother, Ben, is currently an offensive lineman in the NFL with the New York Jets.
Linebacker Devante Bond (6’2, 230 lbs.), recorded 77 tackles in 11 games during the 2012 season for Sierra College in Rocklin, Calif. He led the California Community College Athletic Association with 17.0 sacks (-108.0 yards), while his three fumble recoveries also lead the conference. Bond had a tackle for loss in every game that season, including nine contests with at least 2.0 TFL. He finished the year with 27.0 tackles for a loss of 159 yards and added four pass breakups.
