Bradford Lost for Season

Just when his season was peaking, St. Louis quarterback Sam Bradford saw his 2013 campaign come to a close in Sunday’s 30-15 loss at Carolina.

Late in the fourth quarter, Bradford scrambled out of bounds but in the process ended up tearing the ACL in his left knee. The injury will cause him to miss the rest of the season.

Prior to the injury, Bradford had completed 21 of 30 passes for 255 yards with one touchdown and one interception. Among his highlights were a 25-yard pass to running back Zac Stacy in the first quarter, as well as a 73-yard bomb to wide receiver Brian Quick in the third quarter that set up a four-yard touchdown pass to Stacy.

The injury comes on the heels of back-to-back three-touchdown games for Bradford. He finishes the year with 1,687 yards, 14 touchdowns and four interceptions while completing nearly 61 percent of his passes. His quarterback rating of 90.9 was on pace to become a career high.

On the other side of the ball, defensive end Frank Alexander matched his season high with two tackles in the Panthers’ victory.

Tight end Jermaine Gresham caught four passes for 64 yards, including a 30-yard grab, as Cincinnati defeated Detroit, 27-24 … For the Lions, wide receiver Ryan Broyles caught two passes for 16 yards … running back Adrian Peterson was limited to 28 yards on 13 carries, and Phil Loadholt started at right tackle, in a 23-7 loss Monday night to the New York Giants … Washington started Chris Chester at right guard and Trent Williams at left tackle in its high-scoring, 45-41, victory over Chicago, and the pair provided strong blocking on this 14-yard TD run and this go-ahead touchdown with under a minute to play… Lane Johnson started at right tackle for Philadelphia in its 17-3 loss to Dallas … Defensive tackle Gerald McCoy recorded three tackles, while Davin Joseph got the start at right guard, and threw this lead block on a 16-yard run, for Tampa Bay in its 31-23 loss to Atlanta

This and That

The following players saw playing time but did not record any stats: defensive back Dominique Franks (Atlanta), tight end James Hanna (Dallas), defensive back Tony Jefferson (Arizona), linebacker Travis Lewis (Detroit) and offensive lineman Donald Stephenson (Kansas City) … defensive back Jamell Fleming (Jacksonville), quarterback Landry Jones (Pittsburgh) and running back DeMarco Murray (Dallas) were made inactive … Oakland (Stacy McGee) and New Orleans (Garrett Hartley, Curtis Lofton, Kenny Stills) were on byes.
