NORMAN, Okla. -- University of Oklahoma Head Rowing Coach Leeanne Crain and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners' 2013-14 schedule Friday.

The defending Big 12 and Conference USA champions, Oklahoma rowing enters its sixth season of competition coming off its first-ever NCAA Championship bid in 2012, finishing a program-best 17th in the nation.

"We've got a great schedule that includes races against several teams at the top of the national rankings," Crain said.

The season will be highlighted by the Sooners hosting the 2014 Big 12 Championship in Oklahoma City on May 3, welcoming conference foes Texas, Kansas, West Virginia and Kansas State. The event will be televised live by SoonerVision on the FOX sports network.

Oklahoma also begins the fall season in Oklahoma City at the Head of the Oklahoma, Oct. 5-6. Three weeks later, OU will compete at the Head of the Colorado in Austin, Texas, on Oct. 26.

The Sooners will compete at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tenn., on Nov. 2-3 before finishing the fall season at the Rivanna Romp on Nov. 17 in Charlottesville, Va.

"We're excited to be underway with fall training and are looking forward to seeing some great competition at the Head of the Oklahoma in October," Crain commented.

After training at Winter Camp the first week in January in San Diego, Oklahoma will again travel to Austin, Texas, to begin the spring season Mar. 22-23 at the Longhorn Invitational, an event the Sooners won in 2013.

In April, OU will visit opposite sides of the country, first competing at the Lake Natoma Invitational in Rancho Cordova, Calif., Apr. 12-13 before traveling to the Clemson Invitational in Clemson, S.C., Apr. 19-20.

The postseason begins at the Big 12 Championship on May 3 followed by the C-USA Championship in Oak Ridge, Tenn., on May 17.

The NCAA Championship returns to Indianapolis where the Sooners will look to compete at the three-day event held May 30-Jun. 1.
