The Oklahoma women's gymnastics team has announced that they will host one open practice each month this fall leading up to the Sooners' 2014 season in January. The open practices will take place on Sept. 7, Oct. 5 and Nov. 16, culminating in the team's annual intrasquad on Dec. 7. All of the events will be free and open to the public.
All open practices will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with the exception of the intrasquad, which will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. The practices will be held at the Sam Viersen Gymnastics Center, which is located north of the Lloyd Noble Center by the intersection of S. Jenkins Ave. and Imhoff Ave.
The public is invited to attend and watch the practices. Athletes will be available following practice to sign autographs and visit with all fans in attendance. Fans will have the opportunity to watch 12 members from last season's squad - including four NCAA All-Americans - as well as meet the five talented newcomers that are joining the Sooners this year.
The OU women's gymnastics team is fresh off a 2013 campaign that saw the Sooners earn a national runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships and the program's 11th conference title. The NCAA performance marked Oklahoma's third top-three finish since 2010.
