THE BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP
No. 2 Oklahoma will take on No. 25 West Virginia and Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship in Ames, Iowa, on Friday, March 23, at 2 p.m. CT. The Sooners come into the Big 12 Championship with the most wins in the nation with a record of 19-1, including a season sweep of WVU and ISU, and have won four of the last five Big 12 Championship titles. This season, OU defeated West Virginia 197.375-196.050 on Feb. 1 before defeating Iowa State 197.625-194.725 on Feb. 8. The Mountaineers defeated the Cyclones 196.150-194.825 in their dual meet on Feb. 10.
OKLAHOMA BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
Oklahoma has won five Big 12 championships (2004, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012) since the conference was formed in 1997, including four in the last five years. Sixteen Sooners have won 32 individual Big 12 titles, including current OU gymnasts Brie Olson who won the vault title in 2010 and the all-around in 2012 and Kayla Nowak who won the floor title in 2011. Last season in Norman, the Sooners posted a 197.475 to win the title, with Iowa State and Missouri tying for second place at 196.025. Olson won the all-around while Megan Ferguson took the bars and beam titles for Oklahoma.

• Oklahoma is 19-1 in 12 meets this season, giving the Sooners the best win percentage and most wins of any team in the country.
• The 19 wins are the most in a regular season in program history.
• The Sooners have defeated numerous ranked teams this season, including currently ranked No. 5 Georgia (twice), No. 6 LSU, No. 8 UCLA, No. 10 Oregon State, No. 11 Stanford, No. 13 Denver, No. 17 Arizona, No. 24 Boise State and No. 25 West Virginia.
• OU won its first 19 contests before falling in its season finale at No. 4 Alabama.
• Under Kindler, Oklahoma is 99-10 (.908) overall against regular season opponents.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The No. 1 Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team dropped its final meet of the regular season, falling to No. 4 Alabama 197.525-196.900 in front of 11,776 fans at Coleman Coliseum. OU finishes the regular season with a 19-1 record, the best winning percentage and the most wins of any team in the nation. Freshman Haley Scaman tied or set the team high on all three events in which she competed, scoring identical 9.875 scores on vault, bars and beam. Junior Taylor Spears won the all-around title, her sixth of the year, with a 39.450.
2013 ALL-BIG 12 HONORS
The No. 2 Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team earned a conference-best 13 All-Big 12 awards, the most in one season in program history, the league announced Wednesday. The Sooners earned every All-Big 12 spot except one, earning the highest percentage of spots by any one team in league history.
Senior Brie Olson and junior Taylor Spears led the way with three honors apiece and were the two All-Big 12 all-around awardees. Olson, who was All-Big 12 last season on vault and bars, paired her all-around award with additional recognition on bars and floor.
In addition to her all-around honor, Spears also earned All-Conference on beam and floor, giving her five honors for her career after earning All-Big 12 on beam in 2011 and 2012.
Sophomore Erica Brewer, freshman Keeley Kmieciak and freshman Haley Scaman each earned two All-Big 12 awards apiece, with Brewer earning honors on bars and beam, Kmieciak on vault and bars, and Scaman on vault and floor.
Rounding out the Sooner awardees was sophomore Lauren Alexander who earned her first career All-Big 12 honor after finishing second in the conference on beam.
OU has led the conference in All-Big 12 selections each of the last six years and have had at least eight selections each of the past six seasons.
The All-Big 12 squad consists of the top three conference gymnasts with the highest regional qualifying score (RQS) in each event in addition to the top two all-around gymnasts.
2013 ACADEMIC All-BIG 12
Seven members of the University of Oklahoma women’s gymnastics team were named 2013 Academic All-Big 12, the conference announced Tuesday. OU led the Big 12 with its seven selections, including six on the first team. Iowa State had six members, while West Virginia placed five.
Junior Lara Albright, sophomore Lauren Alexander, sophomore Rebecca Clark, senior Kayla Nowak, senior Brie Olson and junior Taylor Spears were named to the first team while junior Madison Mooring was named to the second team.
Albright, a management major, was the only student-athlete of the 18 honored who boasts a perfect 4.0 GPA. Also majoring in management, Nowak was named Academic All-Big 12 for the third time in her career while Mooring, a pre-physical therapy major, earned recognition for the second-straight year.
The list marked the seventh-straight year that at least four OU gymnasts have earned the honor. Under head coach K.J. Kindler, OU gymnasts have earned 46 Academic All-Big 12 honors.
