NORMAN, Okla. -- The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee announced Monday the teams and individuals that will compete in the 2014 NCAA Golf Championships, and the University of Oklahoma will travel to Cle Elum, Wash. (approximately 80 miles southeast of Seattle), to compete as the No. 3 seed in the NCAA West Regional May 8-10 at the Tumble Creek Golf Course at Suncadia Resort.

The 24-team West Regional, hosted by the University of Washington, is one of three 54-hole preliminary events for the NCAA Championship finals. The low eight teams and low two individuals not on an advancing team from each regional will move on to the finals, which will be held May 20-23 at the Tulsa Country Club in Tulsa, Okla.

The NCAA Central Regional will be held in Stillwater, Okla., at the Karsten Creek Golf Club, while the East Regional will be played in Tallahassee, Fla., at the Southwood Golf Club. Those events will also be held May 8-10.

Fifth-year OU head coach Veronique Drouin-Luttrell's squad is coming off a dominating performance at the Big 12 Championship in Austin, Texas, this past weekend. The Sooners won the tournament by 17 strokes and set the Big 12 Championship record for lowest score with a 3-under 861. OU senior Chirapat Jao-Javanil finished the event at 7 under par to win the individual title.

"We are excited to be playing at the West Regional," Drouin-Luttrell said. "It's always fun to get to play in a post-season event. We have some positive momentum coming off our conference win, and we are excited to get out to Washington and see what we can do."

OU is the highest seed among Big 12 teams advancing to NCAA play. Other league teams who qualified for NCAA Regional action are Baylor (No. 14 seed; East), Iowa State (No. 9 seed; West), Kansas (No. 14 seed; Central), Oklahoma State (No. 6 seed; Central) and Texas (No 16 seed; Central).

Last season OU hosted the NCAA Central Regional and finished in second place as current seniors Emily Collins and Anne-Catherine Tanguay tied for second place.  The performance qualified the team for the NCAA Championships in Athens, Ga., where it placed ninth.
