NORMAN – University of Oklahoma head men’s basketball coach Lon Kruger announced Wednesday the signing of 2018 guard Jamal Bieniemy to a national letter of intent. A 6-4 combo guard from Katy, Texas, Bieniemy is rated as a four-star recruit according to ESPN.com and 247Sports.

“Jamal is a terrific young guy who has the classic team-first attitude,” Kruger said. “His versatility as a combo guard allows him to be on the floor in a lot of different capacities and he's a solid defensive player as well.”

A senior at Tompkins High School, Bieniemy joins a growing list of Houston-area recruits during the Kruger era that include current Sooners Christian James (Houston), Khadeem Lattin (Houston) and Kameron McGusty (Katy).

Both ESPN.com and 247Sports rank Bieniemy as a top-25 shooting guard in the 2018 class.

“Sooner fans can expect to see a guy who cares about winning and cares about his teammates,” said Tompkins head coach Bobby Sanders. “The Sooners are getting a very talented winner – a great combination of traits.”
