NORMAN – Oklahoma guard Ana Llanusa was named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Llanusa scored a career-high 27 points and added seven rebounds in OU’s 105-63 victory over previously unbeaten New Mexico last Saturday. Llanusa’s 27 points are the most scored by a Big 12 freshman in one game this season and are tied for the 10th-most scored by an OU freshman in a single game in school history.

The Choctaw, Okla., native leads all Big 12 freshmen in scoring at 12.4 points per game. Llanusa has scored in double figures seven times during the first 10 games of her collegiate career.

Llanusa is the second Sooner to earn Big 12 Freshman of the Week honors this season. Mandy Simpson claimed the award on Nov. 13 after recording 12 points, five rebounds and three steals against Belmont.

Oklahoma faces No. 1/1 UConn on Tuesday night in Uncasville, Conn., for the Women’s Holiday Showcase with tip-off set for 6 p.m. CT. CBS Sports Network will televise the contest. The game will also air live on the Sooner Radio Network and on the TuneIn app.
