The No. 20 University of Oklahoma baseball team wraps up the 2017 regular season with the Bedlam Series against intrastate rival Oklahoma State. Game one will be Thursday, May 18 at Tulsa's ONEOK Field followed by games at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City. All three games start at 7:05 p.m. The entire series can be heard across the Sooner Sports Network and will air locally on Sportstalk 1400 AM/99.3 FM. Voice of the Sooners Toby Rowland will have the call alongside former Sooner Ross Hubbard. Game one will be televised on FOX College Sports-Atlantic with Dave Barnett (pbp) and Pat Combs (color). Sooner Sports TV will broadcast the next two games on FOX Sports Oklahoma.  Veteran OU broadcaster Chad McKee (pbp) and former Sooner and MLB pitcher George Frazier (color) will be on the call.

In dramatic fashion, Oklahoma overcame a series-opening loss to come back and win the weekend over No. 5 TCU at L. Dale Mitchell Park on a pair of walk-offs. Senior catcher Renae Martinez turned around a two-run deficit in the ninth with a walk-off, three-run homer to win, 9-8, on Saturday. Senior first baseman Austin O'Brien capped a five-RBI day on Sunday with a line drive single in the ninth to break a 9-9 tie and win it, 10-9. Sophomore center fielder Steele Walker leads the Sooners in hitting at .340 with 47 runs scored and 46 driven in. He is tied for the team lead in homers with O'Brien, a .305 hitter, at eight. Martinez is second in hitting at .337 and in RBI at 36. Sophomore right-handed pitcher Jake Irvin gets the call to start the opener on Thursday night. He is 6-0 with a 2.67 earned run average and 62 strikeouts in a team-high 54 innings. Junior RHP Devon Perez and sophomore RHP Kyle Tyler round out the OU rotation. Perez is 5-2 with a team-high 69 strikeouts, while Tyler is 0-1 in eight starts.

Oklahoma State is 24-25 overall and 6-14 in the Big 12 after a weekend sweep to Baylor and a Tuesday night loss at Oral Roberts. Left fielder Garrett McCain leads the Big 12 in hitting at .393 with a .550 slugging and .496 on-base percentage. Third baseman Garrett Benge is a .308 hitter with a team-high 50 RBI and is tied with catcher Colin Simpson for a team-leading nine home runs. Right-hander Tyler Buffett get the ball in the opener for the Cowboys. He is 5-5 with a 4.72 ERA and 72 strikeouts in 80 innings across 13 starts.

Oklahoma trails Oklahoma State in the all-time series, 155-138, with the series being even when played at the two teams' home sites. The Sooners hold the longest win streak of the series with an 11-game stretch from 1976-76. In the last four seasons, the Cowboys hold a 12-5 advantage. The longest game played between the two was a 12-9, 18-inning victory for OU in Stillwater on April 15, 2014. Since 2013, 14 of the 20 meetings have been decided by three runs or less, including seven one-run games.

Oklahoma moved itself back into the hunt for hosting a NCAA Regional following its series win over TCU (RPI: 6) last weekend. As a league, the Big 12 owns the top conference RPI with six of nine teams ranked in the top-25. The Sooners enter the weekend ranked No. 16 in the RPI and have the most top-25 RPI series wins in the country with five. Oklahoma is one of 11 teams in the top-20 RPI with six top-100 RPI series wins or better. The Sooners last hosted a regional in 2010; also the last time OU appeared in Omaha.

Since the beginning of the 2016 season, Oklahoma has walked off a winner nine times; all at home. Seven of those nine wins have come on Sundays. The Sooners added their latest walk-off against No. 5 TCU (5/14) with an Austin O'Brien ninth-inning single to win, 10-9. It was the second consecutive walk-off win of the Horned Frogs as Renae Martinez blasted a three-run shot in the ninth to even the series with a 9-8 Sooner victory.
