NORMAN –  Oklahoma wrestler Christian Moody was named the Big 12 Co-Wrestler of the Week after a stellar performance in OU’s home win against No. 5 Missouri, the conference announced Monday.

The Collinsville, Okla., native started out the dual at 125 pounds, recording a 6-4 decision over No. 14 Barlow McGhee. Moody struck first with an early takedown and led 2-1 at the end of the opening period. The redshirt freshman tacked on an escape and a takedown in the second and added an escape in the final period for the victory. Oklahoma went on to down the Tigers, 24-18.

The win marked Moody's first over a ranked opponent in his career. The conference honor is the first of Moody's career and the second of the season for the Sooners, as 165-pounder Clark Glass earned the same recognition on Dec. 5.

Moody and the Sooners return to the mat this Friday and Saturday, Jan. 13-14, in Hampton, Va., for the Virginia Duals. Oklahoma is back home on Jan. 22 at noon for a Big 12-matchup with West Virginia.

Tickets for OU wrestling duals are available online at SoonerSports.com or by calling the OU Athletics Ticket Office at (405) 325-2424 or toll-free at (800) 456-GoOU.
