Cohen, Sooners Announce Fall Schedule
NORMAN – University of Oklahoma women’s tennis head coach Audra Cohen and Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners’ 2018 fall tournament schedule on Thursday.
"We are extremely excited about this fall season. We have worked very hard to add ten new players over the last year, and they are a highly motivated group of young women that want to be the best and are willing to earn it," said head coach Audra Cohen. "This fall schedule gives each player an opportunity to play a lot of matches and gain the competitive experience that is important for our spring season."
The Sooners will open the season the weekend of Sept. 20-23 at a pair of tournaments. OU will be represented at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic in Milwaukee, Wis., and at the Rice Invite in Houston, Texas.
The team will travel to Pacific Palisades, Calif., for the Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships. Pre-qualifying begins on Sept. 29, with qualifying singles and doubles set for Oct. 2-3, and the main draw running from Oct. 4-7.
The Sooners then head to Iowa City, Iowa, for the ITA Central Region Championships Oct. 12-16, followed by the Auburn Invite hosted by Auburn on Oct. 26.
Oklahoma travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., for the UNC Kitty Harrison Invite, Nov. 2-4, before wrapping up its fall slate at the ITA National Fall Championships, held in Surprise, Ariz., from Nov. 7-11.
The Sooners return six players in sophomores Martina Capurro, Camila Romero, Skyler Miller and Nina Jabrzemski, as well as juniors Sasha Korashvili and Jasmine Asghar. Joining the roster are Ivana Corley (Albuquerque, N.M.), Kiana Motosono (Miami, Fla.), and Laura Rico-Garcia (Bogotá, Colombia).
OU’s spring schedule will be released at a later date.
