NORMAN – Jordan Brand continues to expand both on the court and on the field. Today the brand welcomes the University of Oklahoma to the family, making it just the third collegiate football program to represent the Jumpman on the gridiron. The Sooners' uniforms will begin to feature the Jumpman logo at the start of the 2018-19 season. The partnership will include the football team and the men's and women's basketball teams.
Blake Griffin, a long-time Jordan Brand family member, is a University of Oklahoma alum whose No. 23 jersey was recently honored by the university. Griffin was named the AP National Player of the Year in 2008-09 after averaging 22.7 points and 14.4 rebounds per game and leading the nation in rebounding and double-doubles. Griffin was on OU's campus today to announce the brand's new partnership and welcome the Sooners to the family.
We planted some GoPros in shoe boxes to capture the Sooners' reactions to their new kicks.
Oklahoma has a long-standing history of greatness. The Sooners football program has won seven national championships, 45 conference titles and has produced five Heisman Trophy winners. Additionally, the Sooners basketball programs exude the Jordan mentality of excellence, with the men's team making 30 NCAA Tournament and five Final Four appearances, and the women's team making 18 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and three Final Four trips.
Jordan Brand now has presence in four major Division I conferences — the Big 10, Big 12, ACC and the Big East. Jordan Brand x Oklahoma merchandise will begin to hit retail in summer 2018.
