NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma men's basketball player Blake Griffin tied a conference single-season record by earning his sixth Phillips 66 Big 12 Player of the Week award, the league announced Monday.

Griffin, a 6-10, 251-pound sophomore who was named Big 12 Player of the Year Sunday, averaged 24.5 points, 17.5 points and 2.5 assists while shooting .731 from the floor against Missouri and Oklahoma State last week.  He added two blocked shots and three steals.

Griffin tied Iowa State's Marcus Fizer, Texas' P.J. Tucker and Texas Tech's Andre Emmett for the Big 12 record for player of the week honors in a season.

The national player of the year candidate leads the Big 12 in scoring (22.1 ppg), rebounding (14.2 rpg) and field goal percentage (.634) while ranking fourth in blocked shots (1.3 bpg).  He is also averaging 2.4 assists per contest, more than any other Big 12 player taller than 6-foot-5, and ranks second on the team with 1.2 steals per game.  His rebounding average leads the nation and his 25 double-doubles (a school record) are tied for the nation's lead.

The final set of Big 12 weekly awards capped off a prosperous season for OU individuals.  In addition to Griffin's six player of the week honors, freshman guard Willie Warren tied a league record with seven Big 12 Rookie of the Week awards.  Senior Austin Johnson was also named Big 12 Player of the Week on Jan. 19.

Nebraska freshman guard Toney McCray was named Big 12 Rookie of the Week Monday.

Griffin's Sooners are the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Phillips 66 Big 12 Championship.  They will play in Thursday's quarterfinals round at 6 p.m. CDT inside Oklahoma City's Ford Center against No. 7 seed Oklahoma State or No. 10 seed Iowa State.
