NORMAN – Looking to secure a spot at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in August, current Sooners Gage Dyer and Matt Wenske head to Colorado Springs, Colo., to compete at the USA Gymnastics National Qualifier on Saturday at 6 p.m. CT.

Rising junior Dyer and senior Wenske are set to compete at the U.S. Olympic Training Center with a minimum 12 spots on the line for the U.S. Championships. 2016 OU alumnus Kanji Oyama will also be taking part in the competition looking for a qualifying spot to the championships.

Recent OU graduates Levi Anderson, Yul Moldauer and Genki Suzuki have already qualified for next month’s championship by virtue of their all-around finish at the 2019 NCAA Championships. As current members of the U.S. Senior National Team, alumni Allan Bower and Colin Van Wicklen have also qualified. Incoming freshmen Laz Barnhill and Jack Freeman will compete in the junior division.

The U.S. Championships will be held August 8-10 in Kansas City, Mo., at the Sprint Center. Tickets for the championships can be found here.

Live results from this weekend’s National Qualifier will be available via usagym.org.
