Palmer Cup Starts Friday for Cummins

NORMAN – Oklahoma’s Quade Cummins will compete as a member of the United States team at the 2019 Palmer Cup. The three-day event gets underway Friday at The Alotian Club in Roland, Ark.

The Arnold Palmer Cup is an annual team golf competition for college golfers.  The event was first contested in 1997 with the United States leading the competition by a 12-9 margin with one tie. 

From 1997 to 2002, it was contested between teams from the United States and Great Britain.  In 2003 the competition became a series of matches contested by the United States and an international Team representing the rest of the world.  The teams consist of 12 men and 12 women.

Golfers will compete in fourball matches, foursome and mixed foursome match as well as singles matches.

Cummins posted a 70.67 stroke average this season, helping the Sooners to the match play portion of the 2019 NCAA Championships. The Weatherford, Okla., native earned five top-10 finishes and seven top-20 finishes this year.
