K's for Kids Raises Over $18K in 2019
NORMAN — The Oklahoma baseball and softball teams' season-long "K's for Kids” promotion has raised $18,200 for the OU Children's Hospital. The donation was made by program sponsor Landers Auto Group.
For each strikeout that both teams accumulated during their 2019 campaigns, Landers donated $20 to the OU Children's Hospital in Oklahoma City.
The funds will go toward the development of the hospital's Art Therapy and Innovation/STEM programming. OU Children's is building an "innovation suite” in the play and learning space for the kids and families at the hospital, with the goal of allowing self-expression and creativity while kids learn and apply STEM skills.
"We've seen incredible programs from some hospital partners across the country,” said Sara Jacobson, Director of Child Life and Volunteers at the OU Medical Center. "Some Child Life teams have full TV and music studios where kids are filming their own documentaries. Others have started Virtual Reality programs that can be used to improve support during procedures. There are so many directions that art and innovation can go for us. We are truly thankful to Landers Auto Group and so impressed by the talent and hard work of the OU baseball and softball teams.”
"Giving back to this remarkable community is something that we are very proud to be able to do, and we strive to do more every day."

In two years, the K's for Kids program has raised more than $43,000 for the OU Children's Hospital. Combined with the fall baseball-softball Halloween Game in October, more than $33,000 has been raised through Landers Auto Group for the OU Children's Hospital during the 2018-19 academic year.
"We couldn't be more honored to help and support this incredible cause,” said Scott Landers, owner of Landers Auto Group. "Giving back to this remarkable community is something that we are very proud to be able to do, and we strive to do more every day. It is where we work, live and raise our families.”
Landers Auto Group is a One With You Community Cornerstone partner of OU Athletics, supporting the Sooners' community outreach with support of multiple initiatives such as a school supply drive for Norman Public Schools, Coaches versus Cancer and Shop with a Cop.
