NORMAN – The Oklahoma baseball team will play Baylor in the opening round of the 2019 Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Oklahoma City’s Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.

The Sooners (33-21, 11-13 Big 12), which tied with TCU for sixth place in the conference standings, will be the seventh seed in the tournament. The second-seeded Bears (33-15, 14-8 Big 12) won two of three meetings earlier this season in Waco, Texas.

All-time, Oklahoma is 3-5 against Baylor in the Big 12 Championship. The two teams also met last year in the opening round and again in the semifinals.

Oklahoma has twice won the Big 12 Championship. The Sooners won the inaugural tournament in 1997 and followed with a title in 2013. Oklahoma is 38-37 in 22 Big 12 Championships and is one of just two teams to qualify for all 23 in the league's history.
