ORLANDO, Fla. – Alex Bakshi and Stefano Tsorotiotis of the Oklahoma men’s tennis team are set for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships beginning Monday. Bakshi will make his second career singles appearance and will team up with Tsorotiotis in doubles.

Bakshi will open the singles tournament at 9 a.m. CT Monday to face Jonas Ziverts of Arizona. The Sooner is currently ranked No. 41 in the latest ITA singles rankings and compiled a 14-9 overall record with an 11-7 mark in dual matches.

The senior tallied nine wins over ranked opponents during the year. Bakshi’s highest-ranked win was a 6-4, 6-3 victory over No. 7 Yuya Ito (Texas) in the Big 12 Championship semifinals to hand Ito just his second loss of the season. The Tblisi, Georgia, native was named to the All-Big 12 Singles second team.

Arizona’s Ziverts is 12-6 on the season. Ziverts is ranked No. 66 nationally and led the Wildcats at the top spot with a 10-6 mark.

Bakshi and Tsorotiotis will open the 32-team doubles draw Tuesday with Wichita State’s Marius Frosa and Murkel Dellien. The Sooners' duo compiled a 7-4 record on the year with a 7-3 slate in dual matches.

Currently ranked No. 25 in the ITA release, Bakshi and Tsorotiotis are 5-2 against ranked opponents with three of those victories over teams ranked in the top 10. The duo garnered second team All-Big 12 honors as a duo.

Bakshi and Tsorotiotis become the sixth doubles team to represent OU at the championships and the first since Spencer Papa and Andrew Harris, who in 2017 brought home the Sooners’ first individual title in tennis. Three OU duos have advanced to the round of 16 or better in the tournament.

Wichita State’s Frosa and Dellien went 9-1 on the season and sit at No. 35 in the ITA rankings. Playing at the top spot, the duo compiled a 3-1 record against ranked opponents.

Bakshi is set to take on Arizona’s Ziverts Monday at 9 a.m. CT. A time for Bakshi and Tsorotiotis’ Tuesday clash with Frosa and Dellien of Wichita State is yet to be announced.
