NORMAN – The Oklahoma track and field teams will have 34 qualifiers (16 men, 18 women) competing at the NCAA West Regional in Sacramento, Calif., on the campus of California State University-Sacramento, May 23-25. The final regional qualifiers were announced Thursday afternoon by the USTFCCCA.

To qualify, competitors had to have been ranked in the top 48 in their respective event or be among the top 24 relay teams. Athletes must have the top 12 times or marks in their individual event to advance to Austin, Texas, and the NCAA Outdoor Championships, held June 5-8 at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas. For relay teams, the best 12 relay teams at both the East and West Preliminary round sites qualify.

Of the 34 Sooners selected, 18 are repeat qualifiers and 10 are freshmen or newcomers who are qualifying for their first outdoor preliminary meet. Along with the individual qualifiers, both the OU men's and women's 4x100-meter relay teams and women’s 4x400-meter relay will be competing at regionals.

Eight Sooner entries are in the top-10 of their event on the regional performance list, headlined by a combined four from the men’s and women’s triple jump squads.

The West regional is set to kick off next Thursday, May 23, at 2 p.m. CT in Sacramento. Live results will be available through Flash Results. FloTrack will be streaming the meet on a subscription basis.
