Rowing Receives Academic All-Big 12 Honors

NORMAN — The Oklahoma rowing team landed 17 student-athletes on the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Rowing Team, the conference announced Thursday.

Sixteen Sooners earned first-team honors while one was named to the second team. First team members consist of student-athletes who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA while the second team selections hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

Seniors Nina Chism and Madeleine Lange and juniors Elizabeth Soldner and Rachel Williams headline the OU selections, each earning a 4.00 GPA.

To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.

The No. 20 Sooners begin their postseason Sunday, May 19 at the 2019 Big 12 Championship in Oak Ridge, Tenn. OU looks to secure their first NCAA Championship berth since 2014 at the conference regatta on Melton Hill Lake.
