NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma track and field team travels to Southern California this weekend for the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational on the campus of UCLA. The Sooners are set to face Cal State Fullerton, College of the Canyons, Fresno State, Loyola Marymount, Montana, UCLA and West Los Angeles in a full slate of events on Saturday.

UCLA's Drake Stadium will be familiar territory for some Sooners. OU sent five runners to the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival at the venue just two weeks ago, when freshman Haley Herberg claimed the women's 5K title and senior Sarah Scott won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Herberg, who attended Capistrano Valley High School just 70 miles from Drake Stadium, looks to continue her homecoming success with a start in the women's 1,500-meter run.

Through four weeks of outdoor season, OU's horizontal jumpers aim to continue their own strong start. The Oklahoma men's and women's triple jump squads are both ranked first nationally in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association's Event Squad Rankings. The women own an average mark of 48-6.25 (14.78m), while the men leap an average of 52-0 (15.84m). Individually, Sooners Papay Glaywulu and Roman Mason sit at third and fourth nationally with respective jumps of 53-10.25 (16.41m) (3.1) and 53-8.5 (16.37m) (2.1).

The Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational opens Saturday at 10:30 a.m. (all times CT) with the men's javelin. Field events continue throughout the day, with the triple jumps set to get underway at 5:30 p.m. The Sooners begin competition on the track at 4 p.m. in the men's 4x100-meter relay.

Live results from the invitational will be available through FinishedResults, and final results will be available on SoonerSports.com following the meet.
