Regular Season Ends on the Road
NORMAN – The No. 30 Oklahoma women’s tennis team heads to the Lone Star State to wrap up the regular season at No. 23 Texas Tech Friday at 5 p.m. CT and TCU Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Sooners are 15-6 on the season with a 4-3 mark in conference play. In their last weekend of competition, OU defeated Wichita State 4-3 before falling to No. 12 Oklahoma State 7-0, both on the road.
No. 22 Oleksandra Korashvili leads the Sooners from the top spot and has compiled a 14-5 record on the year. Korashvili has notches six victories over ranked opponents with three of those coming against top-25 foes. Camila Romero is tied with Korashvili for the most singles wins by a Sooner with a 14-6 record between courts three and four.
In doubles, Ivana Corley and Jasmine Asghar entered the ITA rankings for the first time this season at No. 58. The duo has combined for a 9-10 record at the No. 1 line. Romero and Martina Capurro lead OU in doubles wins with a 14-4 mark on court two.
Scouting Texas Tech
No. 27 Texas Tech enters the weekend at 15-6 overall and 5-2 against the conference. The Red Raiders split their last weekend of competition, defeating Baylor 5-2 at home before falling to No. 7 Texas 6-1 on the road. Texas Tech remains undefeated (8-0) at home this season.
Felicity Maltby leads the Red Raiders from the No. 1 line, where she is 15-5 overall. Maltby was the lone Texas Tech player to come away with a singles win against Texas, upsetting then-No. 17 Bianca Turati in three sets. Maltby was tabbed No. 40 in the latest ITA rankings.
In doubles, Maltby and Nell Miller lead the team in wins with a 10-5 record, playing primarily on court two.
TCU is 12-7 on the season with a 4-3 mark in Big 12 matches. In their last match, the Horned Frogs narrowly fell to No. 7 Texas 4-3 in Austin.
TCU will host No. 11 Oklahoma State Friday.
Ellie Douglas is the Frogs’ representative in the ITA sinlges rankings, where she sits at No. 60. Douglas is 10-5 on the year at the No. 1 line and has defeated four ranked opponents. Mercedes Aristegui leads the team in singles wins with a 12-6 overall record.
In doubles, Douglas and Aleksa Cveticanin are ranked No. 40 and have compiled a 11-2 record on court one.
