NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma track and field team begins its outdoor season this weekend in Fort Worth, Texas, at the TCU Invitational. The meet will be held at the Lowdon Track Complex on the campus of TCU.

The beginning of the outdoor season means new events added to the meet schedule and a chance for the outdoor event student-athletes to join their OU teammates in competition.

The TCU Invite is the first of eight outdoor meets for the Sooners that will run through the end of April before postseason competition begins. OU will travel to San Antonio next weekend for the Roadrunner Invitational before taking part in the Texas Relays in Austin. The Sooners will travel to the Bob Larson Distance Carnival in Los Angeles and the Reveille Invitational in College Station, Texas, prior to competing in the Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner Invitational in Los Angeles on April 13. The Sooners then return home to play host at the annual John Jacobs meet April 19-20. The final regular season outdoor meet for OU will be the National Relay Championships on April 26-27 in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Sooners will open postseason by hosting the Big 12 Outdoor Championships in Norman on May 10-12, while the opening competition to June's NCAA Championship, the NCAA West Preliminary Round, is set for May 23-25 in Sacramento, Calif. The NCAA Outdoor Championships will be hosted by the University of Texas in Austin, June 5-8.

Women's discus will be the first event of the TCU Invitational Saturday, scheduled to start at 9:30 a.m. CT with the men's discus to follow. Running events begin at 2 p.m. with the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. The meet wraps up with the 1,600-meter relays, slated to begin at 5:25 p.m.
