NORMAN — Oklahoma Athletics will host a pair of events highlighting girls and women in athletics prior to home women’s gymnastics and women’s basketball matchups this weekend.

The events will be held in advance of 2019 National Girls and Women in Sports Day on Feb. 6. The annual day of observance is held during the first week of February to celebrate the accomplishments of female athletes.

Prior to the women’s gymnastics meet against Florida on Feb. 1 (6:45 p.m.) and the women’s basketball game against Texas on Feb. 2 (3 p.m.), female student-athletes from other OU sports will meet with fans in the upper concourse of Lloyd Noble Center.  Fans will have the opportunity to receive brief instruction on respective sports and to visit with the Sooner athletes.

Additional promotions for National Girls and Women in Sports Day will run throughout the events.

Tickets for women’s gymnastics and women’s basketball are on sale now. Fans who purchase (or who have already purchased) a ticket for either of the home events may show their ticket at the other to gain free admission.

Additionally, fans are encouraged to attend OU track and field’s J.D. Martin Invitational meet at Mosier Indoor Facility on Feb. 2. Attendance is free.
