NORMAN – Oklahoma men’s tennis sophomore Jake Van Emburgh is set to open the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships Tuesday in Surprise, Ariz.

ITA No. 70 Van Emburgh was an at-large selection for the 64-player singles draw at the event, which features competitors from all five divisions (NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA and JUCO).

The Belleair Beach, Fla., native completed the fall season with a 4-1 mark, which included a run to the ITA Central Region Championships quarterfinal. Prior to the fall season, Van Emburgh captured the singles title at the Oracle ITA National Summer Championships, winning six consecutive matches in straight sets.

“It’s really an honor to be able to go out and represent for the guys and for OU this week. I was really excited when I found out (I'd been selected). It’s a great opportunity," said Van Emburgh.

"I’ve been putting in a lot of hard work with the coaches and I really think I’m feeling good enough to win this tournament and walk away from the fall with a title."

Live stats will be available for the tournament. The singles final will air live on ESPN3 and the ESPN App on Sunday, Nov. 11. Singles champions at the event will receive main draw wildcards into a 2019 Oracle Challenger Series tournament.

Draws will be released at a later time. For more information on the Oracle ITA National Fall Championships, visit the event page.
