NORMAN — The Oklahoma softball team unveiled Tuesday its eight-game fall exhibition schedule, which features five games to be played at Marita Hynes Field.

The fall slate begins Sept. 28-29 with the annual Fall Festival Tournament. Oklahoma opens play on Friday, Sept. 28, against Butler Community College at 4:45 p.m. before facing Trinity Valley Community College at 7 p.m. OU then plays twice Saturday with games at 4:45 p.m. against Seminole State and 7 p.m. against Northern Oklahoma.

Two weeks later, OU will head south to face North Texas in Denton, Texas. The Sooners and the Mean Green will face off at 6 p.m. on Oct. 11. Although the two teams were scheduled to meet in the 2018 regular season, the contest was canceled due to inclement weather.

The Sooners return home the following week as they host North Central Texas College on Oct. 17 at 5 p.m.

The fall schedule concludes on Oct. 28 when Oklahoma travels to Fayetteville, Ark., to take on Arkansas in a doubleheader at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The Sooners and the Razorbacks met in the 2018 NCAA Norman Super Regional with OU claiming a pair of wins, 7-2 and 9-0.

Tickets for all five games at Marita Hynes will be available for purchase at the gate on game days. General admission seats cost $7 while youth (3-18) and senior citizen (55+) tickets cost $5. Children ages 3 and under and OU students with ID are free.

OU Athletics introduced a clear bag policy and walk-through metal detectors at all home events this year, including fall softball games. More information can be found here.

During the Fall Festival Sept. 28-29, the Sooners will hold a food drive for the OU Food Pantry. Fans are encouraged to bring the following items to donate at the gate: pasta, pasta sauce, canned fruit, juice boxes, condiments, canned soup, Thanksgiving items (e.g. stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce), canned vegetables except for corn and green beans, mac and cheese, beans, rice, peanut butter, granola bars, and mixes such as cake or pancake mix.

The Sooners finished the 2018 season with a nation-leading 57-5 record, making their 12th appearance at the Women’s College World Series. Oklahoma is the seven-time defending Big 12 champion, a run never before seen in the conference, after sweeping the regular season and tournament titles.

OU returns two First-Team All-Americans in senior infielder Sydney Romero and sophomore utility player Jocelyn Alo. In addition to Romero and Alo, returning All-Region honorees include seniors Shay Knighten and Caleigh Clifton and junior Nicole Mendes.

Along with 13 returning student-athletes, Oklahoma welcomes seven newcomers in transfers Shannon Saile and Berkley Faulkner and a five-person freshman class: Grace Green, Audrie LaValley, Grace Lyons, Sami Skelly and Brooke Vestal.
