NORMAN — The Oklahoma baseball and softball teams’ season-long “K’s for Kids” promotion has raised $25,290 for the OU Children’s Hospital. The donation was made by program sponsor Landers Auto Group.

For each strikeout that both teams accumulated during their 2018 campaigns, Landers donated $30 to the OU Children’s Hospital in Oklahoma City.

The funds will go toward the hospital’s therapy dog program, which is aiming to increase its numbers of dogs from one to three. Currently, the program is working to purchase a therapy dog specifically for the oncology floor of the Children’s Hospital.

Each dog costs around $125,000. Through the K’s for Kids program, Landers will cover approximately 20 percent of the purchase of another dog.

Landers Auto Group is a One With You Community Cornerstone partner of OU Athletics, supporting the Sooners’ community outreach with support of multiple initiatives such as a school supply drive for Norman Public Schools, Coaches versus Cancer and Shop with a Cop.
