NORMAN — Oklahoma volleyball outside hitter Alyssa Enneking and setter Kylee McLaughlin have both been named to the 2018 Preseason All-Big 12 Team, the league office announced Wednesday.
Rising senior Enneking is a member of the Preseason All-Big 12 Team for the first time in her career after being named an AVCA All-America Honorable Mention selection and an All-Big 12 First Team honoree in 2017.
Last year, Enneking averaged a league-best 4.20 kills per set. Her 4.30 average in league matches ranked second and she averaged 4.36 against ranked opponents and 4.32 in 12 matches against teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
Overall, Enneking totaled 16 double-doubles in 2017, the most by a Sooner since Brianne Barker’s 22 in 2011. Enneking, who matched her career high with 26 kills in a four-set match at Texas Tech (Nov. 8), reached double figures in kills in 27 of 29 matches on the year and double figures in digs on 17 occasions. She averaged a team-high 2.94 digs to go with 45 blocks, 25 assists and 13 service aces.
McLaughlin enters her first season in the Big 12 after transferring from Oregon State in January. During the 2017 season, she was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.
The 5-10 setter from Carrollton, Texas, was named the AVCA Pacific North Freshman of the Year and earned a spot on the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team as well as Pac-12 All-Conference Honorable Mention. McLaughlin also earned three Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors throughout the season.
On the court, McLaughlin dished out 1,294 assists, averaging 10.69 per set. She added 2.58 digs and 0.47 blocks per set. McLaughlin led Oregon State with 15 double-doubles and was the only Pac-12 player to post a triple-double on the year. She established a career-high in assists at 57 on three occasions, all in Pac-12 play.
The Big 12 will release its preseason coaches’ poll on Thursday. OU head coach Lindsey Gray-Walton is set to begin her inaugural season at the helm in August.
