NORMAN—The University of Oklahoma track and field team concluded its season earlier this month in Eugene, Ore., at the NCAA Outdoor Championships with six Sooners taking home All-America honors.

Several Sooners will continue competition this weekend at the 2018 USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa, on the campus of Drake University. Former OU student-athletes will also be competing at the USATF meet with spots on a variety of USATF competition teams up for grabs.

Current Sooners competing at the meet will be rising sophomore Camri Austin in the women's 100-meter hurdles, qualifying with her PR time of 13.18 seconds. Redshirt senior Sarah Scott will be running in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, qualifying with her school-record time of 9:56.17.

Ashley Bryant and Jess Woodard, who recently finished their Sooners' careers, will be participating in throwing events at the meet. Bryant will compete in the women's hammer throw, qualifying with a 218-9 (66.67 meters) mark that stands as second all-time in program history.

Jess Woodard will compete in both the women's shot put and discus throw. Woodard took second place at the 2018 NCAA Outdoor Championships in the shot put with a personal best throw of 61-3.5 (18.68 meters). Woodard's qualifying mark for the discus throw is her school-record throw of 190-9 (58.14 meters) recorded this season at the Texas Relays.

Junior-to-be Gabby Kearney will also take part in the throws competition at USATF. Kearney will take part in the javelin throw, qualifying for the meet with her PR mark of 176-9 (53.87 meters) in a second-place effort at the Big 12 Outdoor Championship.

Nine other former Sooners will also be competing at the USATF Outdoor Championships. Candyce McGrone, a former Sooners sprinter, will be running in the women's 100 and 200 meters competition. The school record holder in the men's 1,500, Riley Masters, will be competing in the 5K this weekend. Steeplechase school record holder Dylan Blankenbaker will be participating in the 3,000-meter steeplechase along with former Sooner Brandon Doughty. Successful distance runner Patrick Casey will be running in the men's 1,500 meters at USATFs for team Under Armour.

Former jumpers Baileh Simms and Toni Smith will be competing in the women's long jump and triple jump, respectively. Former Sooner thrower Avione Allgood will compete alongside current Sooner Gabby Kearney in the women's javelin throw.

Announcing earlier this month that it will be her final competition, former Sooner and two-time national champion Tia Brooks-Wannamacher will compete in the women's shot put to conclude her decorated track and field career.
